Gartenstrasse 15
Berlin Mitte

This four-storey historically protected building, partially clad in natural stone and adorned with decorative details was erected around 1910.

Originally conceived as a commercial building, the building was rebuilt after considerable war damage in the 50's as a boarding school. Later, the rooms were used for school and recreational purposes. Through extensive renovation, addition, modernization and reconstruction measures, three large areas for dining and gatherings were created on the ground floor with classrooms on the upper floors, rooms for music, art, library and recreational facilities for children and adolescents.

The aesthetic and the functional are closely connected in the entire design.
The rooms are bare, minimalist, but very carefully arranged. The same flooring material has been consistently used, which leads to the optical magnification. The flooring is laid diagonally. The walls, the built-in furniture and ceilings are light. All in all, great emphasis is placed on details.
The apartment has a rooftop terrace with stunning views over the city. The stair to the roof terrace is a cantilever construction, which is designed as a sculptural element. The lighting in the ceilings, built into the furniture and the floor plans and designed for presentation of art objects and various lighting scenarios.
